TR20 Compete at Imola, Italy

TR20 Superbike race team, embark on an opportunity of a life time. Selling up everything they own at home in New Zealand, to purchase the latest 2017 Aprilia RSV4 RFW and compete it in the Italian CIV National Trophy Championship of 2017. Their Aprilia was hand made in the Aprilia Racing Department in Noale, where they got a private tour of the Factory and a glimpse into the race factory testing facility. What an honour for two passionate Aprilia racers. The team collected their new race bike only 5 days before their first ever race weekend in Europe, many late nights in their cold garage in the mountains of Fanano made sure she was race ready for the weekend, rear sets, clip ons, Full Titanium Akrvpovic exhaust compliments her Race ECU, race fairings and then off to the world renown Imola circuit for the first of the 6 Round Championship. The team had a few struggles with the race plugs they purchased to run with the 106 Octane race fuel they are allowed to run. So race one saw Dillon only have 9 Full laps of the track as practice. When you start from the back of the pack, the only way is forward. And forward he did go, off the start passing 7 bikes down into turn one. A good race way underway, but the limited laps meant limited set up time for tyre and suspension tuning, with a 10 lap race the team couldn't change anything on the fly. But still brining the pair home in 29th from 39 racers. So using the information from the race, we set up the bike better for the second race we had that weekend. Another flyer of a start saw Dillon pass 10 bikes down into turn one, another great race, as he was still learning the highly technical and elevated Imola circuit to bring cross the line 25th position. A great weekend, for never seeing the track before. The team are looking forward to getting back there next season.
